What is this padding under the bonnet on the right hand side?

I want to mount a Redarc bcdc1240 in this spot (check the pic)

but want to make sure it's safe. I'm hoping other people know what this spot is.

    1. Is there anything behind that I should be worried about drilling into this spot?
I took the glove box out and had a look but still couldn't get a good look at what's directly behind.

    2. I was also wondering why there is padding attached to the bonnet in this location. Is it okay to remove this padding?

    Thanks

Pull off the padding, away you go.....

I did it in my old one, and the new one doesn't have the padding, as they probably opted for cost savings .....

The only thing that you may notice, is that you drill holes into the Air Plenum in front of the windscreen..

Also, you should introduce yourself to the forum in the introduction page, as this is part of the conditions that AB has asked us all to respect when we join up.

Mounted my provent catch can right in that spot. Mine has dual batts and abs so room is limited. No grief so far after 2 years.
The price of excellence is dicipline , the cost of mediocrity is dissapointment .
