    tyre pressures were 25-30 psi
    Tyre problems were negligible

    Thanks 3d.

Yes Big Red can be a challenge for some. There are a number of ways up it and certainly the most difficult when I was there last could see vehicle damage. There was another 4 ways up though!

The link you posted has been done a few times and is already in the first post of the thread but thanks for the bump.

    Here is a link to a thread about fuel consumption. 150lt in a TD42 heavy, 110lts in a ZD30 light, 210lt in a 4.8pet running fast

those fuel figure seem right with todays 4x4s just remember to figure in a safety margin of 20%
Not many jerries of diesel will need to be taken, just out of interest is there any kind of pre trip
inspection or its up to everyone to have their 4x4 in tip top trip condition As it get closer you need a list of who bringing what.
We did a trip once and ended up with 15 camp ovens and 8 chains saws for 10 ppl, it was ridiculus Oh yeah and 6 x 2 burner stoves lmfao

Secret was to travel light, well as light as practicle

re the tyre pressure i would have thought 25 psi for the majority of the trip and 10psi for big red would be what i would go for, 30 psi will wreck the tracks more than they already are??

That was from a TLCCV trip report , but I would think you need to
adjust to suit the conditions, hard sand or hot fluffy sand

Yeah i did the Madigan Line at 25psi. i thought it was perfect for a heavy loaded car. 30 is silly. somewhere between 20 and 25psi hot pressure would be perfect i think.

    Hey 3D.

When I did the Madigan line I had sandwich ziplock bags and took samples of sand from stages across the desert. Unfortunately I started the sample taking from near the middle rather than the start. The change in sand colour is extraordinary. Made a Great school Project for Zach when he got home.
