Would anyone else be interested in chasing some pigs on this trip?
In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.

Not as easy as it sounds unless you have access to a property. Generally these sorts of areas are a bit off the main drag too.
Between Patrols ATM. Had a beaut GU with 6.5 Chev TD. Next is a GU ute with a 4.5 litre Cummins conversion and a camper on the back.

Just saw this thread. Very interested but not sure I'll be set up to go. Obviously I would need to remove my LPG beforehand and perhaps 2 long range tanks. Whats the chances of doing this with petrol with 2 long range tanks? Could I always take a few jerrys if I had to I suppose

Fuel supplies aren't a big issue Lucus. As long as you can get a min of around 400klms, you will be fine.

So basically possible with 75 litre sub, LPG and two jerrys i could do it. Was going to do the LRA sub soon enough any way. Still on the cards then. Might take some convincing the Ms as she had her heart set on a cruise next year

Just have a good look at a decent map of Cape York. You can get fuel all over the place, but some cost more than others. Even with very little mileage capacity, you could hop from Laura to Hahn River, to Musgrave, to Coen, Archer River, Moreton, Bramwell, then Seisia and Bamaga at the tip. Try to dodge fuel at the Jardine Crossing, unless things have improved, but there have been quite a few cases of water contamination, and it costs a bomb.

Cheapest when i was up there last were obviously Weipa, at one end, Laura at the bottom, then Coen in the middle. If you can make it from Mareeba to Coen, then top up at Weipa or Seisia and back the same way, it would be as good as you could do. Seisia was reasonable for where it is. Jardine Crossing is a rip off, and so is the Archer River. Moreton and Musgrave aren't too bad for a top up, but are expensive.

    Hi Lucus30,

Check my post on Page 3 re fuel, petrol prices are on a par with Diesel. None of our group took any Jerry cans, fuel isn't an issue on the Cape (other than price).
    Cheers
