Not sure on customs, possibly not being a double edge but you would need to double check.

I have a 100th D-day landing anniversary sykes fairburn that the old man gave me for my 18th.

You can get them here in Oz and online here as well. Most are replicas and around $100.

I remember seeing one when I was a wee tacka, 40-odd years ago... I doubt it was a copy as I was visiting a friend on a miltary barracks back in Christchurch. It belonged to his dad. Ever since then and having the contact with the ninjas, I have always wanted one...

I think that there is a ban on double-edged blades coming in to the country unles you are a registered collector but haven't gotten off my but to find out. It was one of the reasons that I wanted to join the AKG, as well as making blades as a lot of the blades I want to make will be double edged.... I have a thing for daggers, especially early european and middle-ages style daggers. Some amazing designs!

I have 3 swords[Katana] that never were confiscated. I keep them safe and not many know I have them.
Customs aren't to know you are a collector, or licenced, If its not illegal to own it unlike a fantasy or
flick assisted I think you may be ok
Being a member of AKa doesn't let you own swords etc they knocked that on the head awhile ago

Yup, AKG unless a crafter stopped collectors membetship in 2011 due to govt wanting them to hand over all member details. You will need a permit from state police and an exemption letter from the minister.

    I should have said 75th not 100th

I think over here you need to fill out a form explain why you want to collect, history, artistic reasons, etc
takes a little time . there were some clubs you could join but not anymore cost for a permit here is $150,
it may be a bit more now .

First attempt at a fixed blade sheath, ran out of length so I had to mod the belt loop.

Edit - just ordered 10lbs of 5-6oz leather to make more, need to get some leather dye

Cheers HL, very nice Buck. Don't think it will weigh a lot, my Gerber LMF wasn't as much as that Buck but looking at it, it appears that it is only for cutting etc.

Wouldn't say no if it was given to me though
