Best thing to do is join a club with the same interests as yourself be it touring or weekend trips,
most will have a driver awareness course as part of your joining fee, this way you're taught to
a standard that is recognised Aust wide. They will also inform you on what you need to carry.
Agree with Steve4wdin a shovel should be your best friend on most recoveries, the more shovel work
the easier to extract yourself. The main aim is to have fun and enjoy, getting bogged is half the fun. lol

I did this on our Knockwood trip, the camp weren't very happy with me.
I knew I shouldn't have but my will just wasn't strong enough and went any way.
Although I made it back safely (albeit 3 hrs later) oh yeah midnight drive.
I had the camp out looking for me.
Communications were down.
I wasn't happy with myself as weren't the camp with me.
Point to my story, things can go wrong very quickly out on the tracks and with no one to help could end tragically.
