Turbo timer is it useful?

Almost all Turbo Timers are illegal in most, maybe all states (just so you know). Having said that I tend to use mine a fair bit.

Installing it yourself isn't a bad idea so you can bypass it if it goes U/S. We had one of our clubbies get his electrics flooded and he had to limp to civilisation to get a sparkie to bypass it. The vehicle would only run as long as the timer was set then stall.

They can be legal. Most have a wire which only allows the timer to work if the handbrake is on, legally this is suppose to be hooked up if installed. Most people don't hook it up or earth it out. If the hand brake isn't on then it doesn't activate etc etc

we'll I'll be,i always use mine..I don't think the turbo timer killed MD,i know what you mean but there is a thing called handbrake,or even using park if it was an auto.

That's a pretty big assumption really, to say a "turbo timer" killed him. Really it was a running vehicle left unattended that killed him whether it was running on a turbo timer or not. I have always been cautioned as I was growing up being around running vehicles unattended as really anything could happen. There's usually common factors in these events and it's sense.

Yeah fair enough. Realistically on most road cars it's not of any benefit. With mine if I have been towing I usually unhook or unload the trailer before switching off.

What if you have the keys in your pocket,i always let mine run down,keys in pocket and walk away.......sometimes hope that dopey looking drug f#%k would hop to steal it so I can clobber him...500mtrs down the road..

Just curious but around what temp do you switch yours off? I don't turn it off until it gets to 150 or below.

I like to see 150 or under especially if I have been towing but as long as it's under 200 I will normally switch off.

I used to switch off at 200 and got used to waiting a little while but with the new turbo and intercooler it takes less time to wait for 150 now so I don't mind waiting a few seconds.
