Thanks Threedogs,
My chip has seven steps. They are selected using a small jumper and not using a rotary dial. They are normally delivered set at 4, after installation the guy who fitted it had set it to 3 and told me that when they dyno'd the vehicle they were actually losing HP if they went any higher. Printout shows pre chip and exhaust 110HP, after fitting 130HP. I guess I expected the thing to feel like greased lightning after the way they sold it. I initially only wanted an exhaust and was told I would be disappointed if I didn't add a chip. Was even told that a chip by itself would be more beneficial than an exhaust alone. So I got both. Would have liked a dyno of the pipe alone but they didn't supply one. When I said that I could not feel much difference with and without the chip, they started to blame the intercooler and tried to say that if I put a $1300 upgraded IC on and was still disappointed that Berrima Diesel would agree to up the tune in the chip by reprogramming. So we have gone from a supposed stand alone upgrade using the chip ($1800) to chip and exhaust ($3200) for a 20HP gain (on paper anyway) and a suggestion that to feel satisfied I need to spend another $1300 on an intercooler. And then they told me all this extra power will tear the clutch to bits eventually so I should probably just throw away the standard one and they would install a nice heavy duty one for some more money. At this point I used my angry face and was not offered a price. I went home and installed an $80 thermo fan to the intercooler and can now run the chip on setting 4 where I can at least feel that it is doing something.
