using a windows loader program may be easy for you but not for someone who has no experience or interest in working those things out. also alot of those stupid updates do bugger all anyway, (i know they do fix bugs etc but i reckon at the end of the day they are microsofts way of fooling people into thinking "were supporting you and looking after you")
I see where your coming from. TBH I haven't used stop clock cracks in a long time for the said reasons since I discovered Loader programs. They aren't hard to use at all too. Well the hardest bit is the destination drive has to be blank, no partition or drive letter assigned to it. So it needs to be totally blank like it was a brand new drive. All is done then is load on Widose, don't give a code when prompted, when you finished loading and your in Windows open up the loader program, choose what brand of PC you wish to have, HP, Asus, Dell etc and it loads and your done. You can update, the Malicious software tool doesn't see it etc etc. Its quite easy. The main reason I want the updates is I run two HTPC's on W7 Ultimate using Windows Media Centre program. They have done some good updates to this program and its quite good to use now,the UI is really nice.
For anyone else interested in what the loader program actually is. Its used in a similar fashion when you buy a branded laptop or desktop (e.g HP, Dell, Lenovo etc) and Windows in pre loaded. You have an OEM Version of Windows on there from the manufacturer. Basically the loader program does the same thing to your pc. I have a custom build gaming pc here and Windows thinks its an Acer PC. I could have chosen a better brand I think.
Lol! Now that I've said all that, you and I are probably the only people who would understand this jargon. Anyhow, the crack is probably the best option for Lucas but he has to be careful of not accidentally updating.

    Cheers.

Yeah mate totally understand. With regards to your htpc setup, what do you use in media center? Or do you just use straight media center? I use media browser it's unreal been using it for years. Also what do you use to manage your media? I have 13tb worth of data to manage and I Like all my stuff to be named and displayed properly with artwork and metadata. Have you heard of media center master? Best program I have ever paid for (I've paid for very few to Lol)

Before the reinstall I just used windows media player with a patch to help it read .mkv files. I was just going to do that again but im just wondering if there's a better program?
I don't watch a great deal off my laptop and I don't need pretty GUI's fancy functions or wanky library systems that are hell bent on making me go insane lol.
So just a simple player that can handle all file types will do me. I used to use VLC on my XP computer

Yeah cool. Even my old version played heaps of file types.

Windows media centre came in with the new install. It looks like one of these though

I use the W7 Media Centre program, along with a 3rd party program called My Movies. When you open this program and you want to add a new movie, you simply type the name, language, country, type (DVD, BluRay etc etc) and it searches the IMDB for the title, covers and all the info and adds it to your Media Centre. My brother inlaw uses Media Browser. I have too but you know when you have used one thing for so long you get used to it? This is me with Media Centre. I'm used to it, the wife is, and the kids are. They all know how to navigate via a remote around the HTPC.
All my media mostly movies, (last count was 412 and mostly Bluray rips ranging from 6GB to mostly 13GB and some are 30GB), is on a 10TB network drive (5x 2TB and one spare which automatically kicks in and rebuild the array in one drive goes foobar) and then I have a little Dlink DNS323 dual drive NAS with 2 x 2TB green drives for my Torrents. Getting bloody full though, I have around 1.88TB of Torrents constantly online seeding 24/7, the Dlink cant take the 3TB drives so I have to start thinking about upgrading the Torrent NAS. All Windows based too. It's easy to navigate, and my whole family can use it so thats the way it will stay I reckon.

Why? Anyone who does P2P would understand. Anyone who seeds as much as me put your hand up. I have an invite to the worlds largest private torrent site. Torrentleech. Just checked, since I joined i have uploaded 4.4TB and downloaded 2.07TB of content. If only I had a seed box and could upload at 100Mbit my uploads would be 100 fold.

Meh! Go with iiNet. I'm with them and have been for nearly 10 years. The owner was taken to court years back for apparently letting his customers use their ISP for P2P traffic, which he was. In a nutshell, took them to court, said prove it or eff off. They couldn't prove it. Something along the lines of that.
Anyhow, I use around 120Gb per month just in uploading, and iiNet won't be sending any letters of that kind anytime soon.

That maybe the case but they'll be being watched very closely...... I also used to be an iiNet customer for many years from when they first started up, until they became big and started forgetting about their wa customers
