If you're able to go on the heritage boat cruise at Strahan, id recommend it highly. It goes out to hells gates, then stops at Sarah island and then lunch is served while you head up stream and check out the old huon pine history. Bloody awesome:-)

Wow you're going GOLD!? awesome, you will love it. Dont plan to drive later that day as the Gold tickets get you free champaigne (or used to) and the fresh boags flows all day.

Also worth a look is the devil boat (speed boat) that goes up the King River to the old town of Teepookana. Full noise with 360's and a bit of history thrown in.
