Thanks for the wishes everybody!
Wow, I have been so busy lately with work, socialising and 4WDing that I haven't really been on here much, or at all for the fact
Since I last posted, I have added some dents and scratches to the car, an Ironman 12000lb monster winch with synthetic rope, and a dual battery system waiting to go in.
I finally ordered a battery tray to sit in the funny spot the battery has to go.
I have been a bit slack with getting stuff into it, and enjoying just driving around. The winch control box got mud in it and corroded out all the wires inside, my bad for mounting in a crummy spot.
Oh well I have a new one now (not installed as yet as I am looking at places. I have to fit a snorkel on some time, I have all the tools required, just need to get it done haha!
I was thinking of mounting the control box in the engine bay, but where there's enough room, there's 1 tiny little thing in the way. I am thinking of mounting it in the side wall of the engine bay, where the snorkel pokes through the side into the space between the quarter panel and the engine bay, but mount it in the engine bay side.
The only other option is to get someone to fabricate something for me to bolt to the wheel arch in the engine bay.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Lionel

I have been working on the girl today, installing a snorkel. I haven't really done too much yet, just ripped the front left quarter panel off, I realise now that I probably could have left it on!
Hahaha, oh well, I'd like to drill some holes while I have it off to mount the winch control box behind the radiator reservoir.
I have been taking a few pictures, and tomorrow I will get the snorkel in and hopefully mount the winch control box.
I have a Y61 MY07 ZD30.
Pics to come![]()
Welcome to the forum
IF ITS NOT BROKEN IT MUST BE A PATROL
Oh there was something odd that I found today that was worth a mention, and probably everyone has seen it, but where the air filter box connects to the gasket that runs into the cavity between the quarter panel and the engine bay, there was a bit of a gap, around 0.3-0.5mm. Definitely not a good seal, and on the back end there was a heap of Sikaflex to ensure a good seal. Hah! I had to have a laughIt's all pulled out now to install the snorkel in the morning.
I have been having a bit of a read of a few threads tonight, very good and helpful information
Thanks,
Lionel
