Patrol wont start, nissan say its the air con pump?

    I have a 2005 zd30 auto patrol.
The other day it wouldnt start. Not a battery problem as they are new.
Checked all the leads and they are all tight.

So sent it to nissan and they have told me its the air con pump needs replacing?
How is this stopping my car from starting?
If it is can i just disconnect it as i dont have a spare $1100 at the moment to replace the pump and belt that they say need replacing.

If the A/C compressor has seized it can stop the engine from turning over.

What was happening when it wouldn't start?

It would need the clutch on the air con to be locked on for it to effect that.

The outer of the clutch is always spinning and when you hit the ac button its energises the electomagnetic field inside and engages the comoressor drive shaft.

It sounded like it wanted to start but didnt have enough power to turn over.

I spoke to nissan again and they have said that the pully is seized along with the pump.

There is a bearing in the pulley in the front of the compressor that is common for failing.

If this bearing has seized, having the A/C on or off will have no affect.

The ECU also switches off the A/C during cranking.

The bearing in the pulley is replaceable.

If you can spin the inner part of the clutch plate by hand you might only need to replace the front bearing instead of the whole compressor.

You can do it yourself, but not without breaking a bunch of laws. Its illegal to work on aircons without a license and if you release that refridgerant into the atmosphere dont post it on here!

I suppose you cant take the aircon belt off or a smaller belt to bypass it on those engines?

Im just gonna get nissan to fix it and be done with it.
Hopefully this is it for awhile, otherwise it might be bye bye time for the patrol
