    Another write off

    Heya guys and gals,
Been a while since on here, have had my patrol written off by an uninsured driver with no money(so looks like I will have to sue........I hate the thought of having too) and because of all the accessories I have on the troll I can't even let the insurance company take it as I will Lose way to much ( second time in a matter or years) so I am going to be going through the process of buying another patrol and transferring what I can across and then selling the rest of the patrol of in pieces..l currently I have a 1999 4.5 petrol and am looking at buying( almost definite I will get it over the weekend) a 2011 3 lt turbo diesel( wow so excited about the economy difference). So a couple of many questions I have to the more knowledgeable out there is.... Is it possible to take the Arb lockers out of the petrol and put them in the diesel( I would get it done by some one who know what they are doing but just want to know if it is possible, and secondly what about the nomad valve body, are these interchangeable or are they specifically made for the model I ordered it for( being the 4.5 petrol)
At least I will have some sort of patrol for " meet up in the middle" next year... Won't be anywhere near as modified but it will be something.
Anyhow any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I will soon have many parts available( including a perfectly good strong engine and auto trans)lol
    Scotty

That's bad news, mate. Good luck with the new Patrol.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Not good to hear mate. And nit a nice way to go about having to get your money..

As long as the diffs are the same you should be able to transplant the lockers with minimal fus. I'm pretty sure most of the Patrol diffs are the same, Its just the ratio which changes..

Bugger, Thats not good to hear at all mate. Do you have a Buy back option with your insurance? They wont value your accessories int eh salvage price so dont worry about that. Most decent policies will protect you from such a driver by not penalising you if you can name the other party. They will Sue them. Bugger that mate no joy for you there.

At least make the call if you have not already.

Good luck with the new rig mate.

The valve body is not interchangeable i dont think but would be worth coin to sell though. If your new and old cars both have the H233 rear diff then the lockers will go straight in. In fact nearly all of your accessories will bolt straight up mate. good luck with whatever happens but i'd be letting the insurance have it. Or strip the good bits off before they come get it.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Bugger indeed !, thats the problem with older patrols, it does not take long for your mods to out cost the price of the vehicle, and the other insurance company will just go on a "very" low market value of the car itself (no mods), so let me guess, they probly would offer you $6000 or something stupid ?

Thanks for the replies all ready , I looked at going through the insurance company but the panel beater said I would be mad( the insured value is 9000 and the panel beater for the insurance company reckons they would tender the patrol out because of all the parts and also write it off so if anyone wanted to repair it. Panel beater said everything is repairable but it would be up to around 15000 to do.. ( I was t bonned by a hilux with a bullbar) so my left side caved in( more importantly the centre pillar) and then the buy back would not be cheap as he reckons the assessor isn't stupid and will take it all into account).. I agonised over this so hopefully I can sell it off( he did say there is a market for the wrecking especially because the cost are so high) what is up with people not having insurance anyway!!!!
I guess a newer patrol isn't a bad thing and it still has new car warranty and I can extend the manufacturers warranty for another 3 years.

When i drowned the GQ it was Drivable and completely undamaged other than being underwater to the roof. I drove it in to be assessed. At the time (2004) i had agreed value at $17,000. i took it in to be assessed at 8am. At 2:30 on that afternoon i bought the wreck back for $5,500. I picked it up from them at 4pm, they deducted the excess from the final sum and they gave me a cheque for $11,500.

5pm i was sitting in the driveway at home with a smile and a big job ahead of me. In a heart beat i would make that call again.

Good luck mate, i hope it all works out for you and look forward to meeting you in Dalhousie.

If you dont have all the accessories listed on the policy then you own them and can remove them from the car as personal effects prior to write off is my understanding. I would at least make an anonymous call and ask about there standard practice for writing off cars and salvage rights. Likely you have first option.
