Bit of excitement in camp last night, a soldier was bitten by a Tiapan while in the toilets. Not sure of his condition but they airlifted him to Thursday Island. A few days earlier someone ran over and killed a Tiapan, when measured it was only a few inches short of the largest Tiapan ever recorded. Most of us now use torches when moving around at night.
Internet and phone service is crap up here so still no pics as I can't connect my laptop.
GU CAMPER is the local recovery vehicle up this way, recovered a well bogged vehicle from the beach a couple of days ago.
The mighty Patrol has preformed flawlessly (as expected). When doing the pre trip check today I did find the Ubolts nuts were only finger tight on the Jayco, could have been an interesting trip down corrugation highway.
    G'day Apollofish.

I know what it is like to get bitten by a coastal Tiapan, i got farken bitten in 1983 whilst posted to Field Force Battle School at Tully. The farken prick got inside my pack whilst we were training US Rangers at the time during contact drills. They had to casevac me to Townsville hospital were i had antivenene. I was crook for 5 weeks. Then in 1985 i got farken bitten again, this time at high range training area near Townsville, that time it was a farken black snake that got me.

I am glad you are all doing your pre trip checks!

    Regards,

    RLI
