AVG is a pain. It has basically wrecked our work computers. On a recent scan it found a threat which was part of a program file that has been installed on the computer since it was brand new (4 years). We told it to skip that file but sh!t went down and we had spend a day removing and reinstalling parts of the program. Basically a days lost productivity. Id like to add that the three computers aren't even connected to the net! AVG..... What a joke!

Ok maybe AVG was a bad choice to recommend, I use another program but AVG is free.
Without an anti virus program don't use internet banking, eBay, PayPal, Faceache etc. or anything that uses a password and you don't want others to have access. You can have a Trojan or worm sitting in your system that you are not aware of.
All antivirus programs are out of date before you install them, mine has continual daily updates but these are always written after a new virus is found. Still a lot safer than not having any anti virus.
    Cheers

Yeah avg is carp (and we have the paid version). The office computers have Norton (also the paid version) which basically renders the computer unusable for half hour to hour it scans everyday.
As for internet banking etc, I think it's a good idea to make a separate account that you keep minimal money in which is linked ti PayPal, bill pay etc. It limits the amount someone can take if they hack your computer

I have an old home computer still hanging around here that hasnt had antivirus for about 7 years lol. All good ha ha.
Used to be used everyday but now doesnt get used for anything other than the missus doing a bit of surfing when she needs a bigger screen than her phone.
We dont do anything over the internet that needs security so couldnt care less if it gets hacked, they would be wasting their time. Including banking etc. The few times we purchase over the net we use a pre-paid disposible visa card.

Meanwhile my fully secure work computer has been done over twice in the last 2 years ha ha. AV programs are a joke, i think its them creating the virus's lol.

I don't need a separate bank account as my normal bank account always has minimal money in it If there are any hackers out there wanting access to my account feel free to take on my 300g mortgage........ that would be awesome

I also think that the antivirus set ups like Norton , AVG etc create viruses in order to generate more purchases for up-dated versions...free anti virus programs are minimal and I feel easy for anything to bi-pass....i had Kaspersky and thought that was pretty good but I have since purchased ESET and have never had an incling of an issue

I had ESET NOD32 for about 6-7 years until I thought I didn't need AV on my computer, so slowly slowly it came to a fatal death and lost everything. Lesson learned. I now use AVAST.

I don't think they'll take it from you but could turn it to a 500k mortgage.
