Thanks for all your advice on mud avoidance. .... now how about you all come round to help me fix it hey???

That grinding noise is still there but no where near as bad, I have started stripping the other cars front and am rebuilding it then will swap the whole thing over.

Still have to sort the central locking out and the clutch now has a shudder but that has happened before and seems to sort itself out? ?

    Darren this is fwarrked.

I wonder if putting a hose in the bell housing, and washing it out is an option. Is asbestos an issue in the GQs?
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

I'll give you a cuddle all right!!!!

Ok now I am starting to think it is coming from the rear.. my left shock has a dent in it and there seems to be a lot of backlash?

Could not get right into it as I am on daddy duty and in clean clothes.

Is there anything that could have happened driving 80km with the axle not straight??? I was a GQ crab.

That'll probably be because the parts that were grinding have almost ground themselves away by now & the metal filings have mixed with the grease to act as a sort of 'cushioning' lubricant to what's left until the whole thing collapses.
