Go to the bank and get yourself a mortgage offset account. It helps a lot.

Basically the interest earned in the offset account offsets the interest on the mortgage.
Put your wages and savings in this account. If you are disciplined with money. Get a credit card linked to that account. Pay for just about everything on credit and pay it off within the interest free terms. That keeps the money in your account for as long as possible earning interest offsetting the mortgage. It can save you on the weekly payments.
See the bank they will be able to tell you the best way to do it an probably explain it better than me
