Lookin smick Steve, well for a GU anyway *L*

Got my tweeters all mounted nice now, audio is coming along OK for what im after...
Ive also replaced the cig lighter port with a proper power socket that has a door , i also fitted one in the blank on the other side, except this one runs permanent power from my second battery, this way i can run stuff without the key in the IGN, or run both while travelling.
I also fitted my UHF, i always seem to sit the mic on my lap when off roading with a group (as you are talking often) ,with my old set up, my UHF mic was near the dash at the front, i found that going down steep hills, the mic would often end up on the floor, getting pulled off my lap by the spring mic cord, so i wanted to have the mic cord come from the side not the front this time.
I had two different external UHF speakers to try , but none sounded as good/loud as the one built into the UHF main body, i even pulled this speaker out of the UHF body, and put it in a external speaker pod, it still did NOT sound as good as when mounted in the factory case/body, the factory case is the perfect audio enclosure for the speaker.
My solution to both the above problems, was to mount the UHF body in the centre console, i had already chosen to run the cord through the top of the handbrake rubber, dispite what it looks like, the handbrake can never squeeze the cable even if it got way out of adjustment.
I drilled holes in the console above the drink holders to match the factory speaker holes on the UHF body, and mounted the unit behind matching the holes perfectly, the result is fantastic, and the speaker is now closer to my ears (and the passengers ears) than where i would have put a external speaker.

Great news Steve. I will have to come and see it in person if I have time when in brisbane.
Im not sure if you have thought about it or knowing you probably already have it organised but I reckon if you upgraded to the later series lights it would look quite good.

Bwahaahaa !
Let me know if you get stuck mate, i may have access to another unit with a mic like mine
Ha-ha, so i found out, all the sand goes to the roof lining, away from the console when your car goes on da roof !
Hope you can Matty, look forward to some trips together bud.
Yes i wanted to upgrade fronts to later model as i needed to buy new corner lamps anyway, the headlights and corner lamps need to be changed for the upgrade, and it all started at about $400, the small cosmetic difference (even tho i do like it) was just not worth the extra dollars im afraid.
Yep no problem, already checked with DOT in person, even downloaded the "rules" for trade plate usage from DOT web site, and i can assure you with what i am doing, i well and truly, meet "more" than one of the criteria required for legitimate usage of the trade plate, so 100% legal as per QLD legislation.
