How's it going mate, great question, just a few bits of info to help you and others understand military honours a little better.

This clown is a wannabe just like the Hines brothers who are currently facing criminal charges for this exact offence.

This guy is claiming to be from the Navy holding a rank of Major General ( army rank not navy) he is also wearing medals that are awarded for gallantry and medals for nearly every conflict the ADF has been involved.

    1. Medals which are authorised by the honours and awards system are to be worn on the left hand side only by the original recipient.

    2. Family members wearing the medals of a deceased member are to wear them on the right hand side.

    3. State awards and non authorised medals if worn must be worn on the right hand side, and are not to be mounted in conjunction with national awards.

Unfortunately these guy are able to get away with this crap as generally the average joe citizen wouldn't question, due to the lack of knowledge out there regarding military honours and awards.
Each medal and award tells a story about where the owner has been and what they have done.
Military personnel can pick an imposter by just one small flaw in that story,

This guy is a clown, the 1st medal 2nd row is the current Afghanistan Medal, another looks like the 1951-72 Anniversary of National Service, 3 look like Australian Active Service Medals with what appears like 19 clasps between the 3 medals, 4 x Australian Service Medals with again what looks like 19-20 clasps between them, 2 x Australian Service Medal 1945-75 with 9-10 clasps.

The 1st medal on the 1st row is a Distinguished Service Cross and next to it the Distinguished Service Medal and the INTERFET Medal as the last on the same row and an Iraq Medal squirreled in there as well.

This guy has to be the Bionic Man to have been able to do the amount of service conflict areas and would be Australia's most awarded Service Person.

Approval can be given by a relevant authority in order to wear State / non - authorised medals. AFP, State Police etc authorise their personel to be able to wear those awarded to them, ADF unless approved by the Governor General's Office or Honours and Awards don't usually allow the mixing of commendations

It's very easy to get replica medals made up. Just a matter of going to any website that makes them and put an order in. Looking at one of the pictures it appears his medals are swing mounted, which aren't mounted like that anymore, suggesting that he's had them for awhile. Though I don't know much about medal mounting so not 100%, but sill interesting.
