Yep, some great comments here, appreciate it!

I never went ahead with it back then because of a lot of what was said here. Fear it would flow into the forum and just a lot more work involved.

this forum speaks for its self, the membership has increased ten fold recently over the past year
so im thinking that they are not looking for a robost discussion its f/f and thats why there comming
over here to discuse four wheel drives, have discussions about 4x4s get to know other people hence meetups and trips
and treks around the country, sorry mate but i dont think this forum needs to be more robust
we saw what happened to the other robust forum i wouldnt like to see it happen here

It worked well for sometime, but started to get out of hand and moderation of that section was becoming constant as constant breach's of our tou's were happening. With that, we as admin were not keeping up with the moderation of the overall forum and so we decided to close down that part of the forum.
That was a hard decision and some of the usual members chucked a wobbly, but to be honest, it has now been a year down the track that we closed off that section and the overal forum is a much better place for everyone concerned and now runnin gmuch smoother. We admin have just over 12800 members in our forum and is growing at an average rate at the moment of 8 new members per day.

A seperate section is worth looking at, but very strict tou's would need to be put in place and enforced, to try and keep the peace. Also you need to think about the administrators extra work load.
What the admin here could do is get a couple of moderators (dedicated members) set up to just look after it for them.

Now, where did those grey hairs go this time..... Good luck......
but if it didnt work on your forum its not going to work here, and why would the mods want the extra responsabilty
of taking on more work as it is i feel they are over loaded now
