I don't believe that to be correct Daz, yes its illegal to drive while watching a DVD for front passangers, but nothing illegal about watching a DVD in the front seat while parked up at a camp site, if you read the specs on the unit it won't play while driving

I could be wrong though after all we do have some stupid laws here

Hi Coldcomfort, so I think your partrol has the special harness. You can see the wiring of our D5168, there's a special port(No. 4) for the Nissan, don't know if it's right one can fit with your car directly without rework?

Hi threedogs, you're right, in the D5168, there's a brake_detect function. If you turn it on, and connect the brake wire, then you'll not allowed to watch videos while driving.
If you turn that off, you can make it, quite convenient, thanks!

Our D5168 should fit the shape of GU without problem, but not sure about wiring yet. Once any news, I'll inform you guys! Thanks!

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

The audio unit is a Double Din size and i understand that your unit is widely used and sourced off ebay.

The screen at the top is the Nissan factory GPS and reverse camera setup and was an Option only. I do not have that option and instead have a small glove box with a flip up door in that location. I do not believe there is any connection between the radio and the top screen as they are independent units with no cross options? I might be wrong though?

Will you be doing a good deal for our members? Look forward as i have been considering your uint for a number of years but never made the decision.

Hi MudRunnerTD, wow thanks for you professional answer, quite valuable! Now I see the upper screen is only an option for your car.

And thanks concern to Eonon for so many years! haha, a true fan indeed! Sure once we will provide guys here with great group buy price then, just stay tuned! Cheers!

Using an Eonon Head unit GPS in a Nissan Patrol

Justin, I have installed a few of the G2216 units in various cars including the wifes epica without an issue.

I did a trial fit in my 09 patrol without any dramas at all, needed to purchase an Aerpro plug and play ISO harness and aerial adapter and worked fine. The DVD in the unit works fine BUT the gps unit needs a lot of work, constantly loses signal but when it does gain signal it works great.

I am in the process of looking for another unit as my current JVC unit's bluetooth is in the blink.

You can have the DVD screen in view of the driver BUT it is not allow to display any movie / tv etc by law unless vehicle is stopped / turned off and handbrake applied hence rooftop / headrest screens. The earth wire for the dvd section is supposed to be earthed to the handbrake and not earthed anywhere else ie chasis etc.

If you are looking doing 1 for the patrol, I would honestly suggest looking at incorporating an offroad gps mapset like Ozi Explorer CE or similar for them like many other providers are doing with the WinCE 6.0 operating systems.

Can always throw a unit my way and happy test out lol.

Good to see another company here to support us Patrollians

Using an Eonon Head unit GPS in a Nissan Patrol

Also forgot to mention that Eonon may need to look at either incorporating an anti glare shield or utilising and anti glare film / filter for the units as soon as the sun comes through 9 out of 10 times you can not see the screen to answer calls, change stations, access gps etc.

    Just food for thought

I have a G2227 in my 2001 GUII. Fitted no problem. Only issue I have is the gps can take up to 30minutes to actually work. By that time I have found my own way...
O.h the other issue which is quite annoying is the radio reception. Very poor. I hope the newer units are better...
