Thanks guys for all the support! Last smoke was 10pm Sunday night so 36 hours. Not too bad so far - feel like I miss the "wake-up" hit in the morning but so far so good. Even had a couple of beers with a mate who smokes and then a couple at home with no real urges.

I cannot stress this enough but one very important thing is to not be fixed on the date you quit !!!!!!!!

    Always look forward...................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Another thing is you are not quitting you are a none smoker... you need to get this into your head..!!!

These are strong mind sets you need to put in place.. it's no good saying "Yeah I am trying to quit" thats just asking to fail... if someone asks if you want a cig dont say "I am quitting " say "NO I am a non smoker"

It's been years for me and I cant tell you how long as I did not pay attention to when it was... all I know is it is one of the best things I have done in my life!!!

I quit 16 years ago. Found that not drinking beer or coffee and chewing lots of gum for a while helped. Also took to building model cars of an evening, something to keep the hands occupied.

The other big incentive is the $s. In todays terms say $15 per day *365 is around $5,500 per year, multiply that by 16 years that's $88,000. That pays for my truck and trailer
Time Marches On .....and on ..... and on

The only thing I need is if I feel like I'm weakening I'll post it and hopefully someone will kick me in the butt to keep my stuff together!

Be interesting to see how it goes! (Gone cold turkey!!).

    Nice work Jas! Well done!!

All you have to do is replace that habit with something else. Can I suggest 4WDing perhaps.... Camping... Fishing.... or somthing similar to any of these activities..

In all seriousness, just dont think about it and move forward and spend the money (and time) on a different activity. Worked for me, I took up martial arts the day I gave up the smokes and didnt look back.

    Cheers,

    Rob

WARNING!: Do not ever use a towball as a recovery point. They are not rated and can become a deadly projectile during a recovery if they snap off, and they have done so with tragic results in the past.

Well done mate on taking the first step. I see how hard it is as my dad and brother both smoke and can quit. I think the biggest part is you have to want to quit. But it sounds like your head is in the right place so best of luck mate.

the perfect way to beat the urge when you get one is get someone to butt out their cigarette and stand beside you with the butt in their hand you will soon move away. im so ashamed the i used inflict the stench on other people as well as on my mother. i am bus driver and i am reminded many times a day what i used to inflict on other people. and more power to you for having a go and just think how much extra you will have spend on your troll.kev

I was 50 a day smoker but dont feel like one anymore, I did not cough when smoking however I do cough now just part of the cleaning process.
Small price to pay, I have a goal in mind. There is a chart somewhere that lets you know what your body is doing as the days and weeks go by.
EG After 2 weeks you are nicotine free stuff like that. I wont and dont preach to smokers as I know how hard it is to Quit, I haven't put on any weight
so that might be a Porky pie. Could light a smoke at the drop of a hat but that undoes my 9 months so far even a puff. You'll be right, Are you cold turkey
