Help again please Oh learned ones
I've just got hold of some Y61 axles off a 2.8 and am currently rebuilding them to fit onto my Y60
I noticed the Y61 axles have bigger discs and twin pot calipers
So will I need a bigger servo too or will my existing Y60 servo be ok as is ?
Any info/advice on brake pads too ? I need new ones anyway so could get alternative types if there's any advantage.

My way of thinking would be use as much Y61 brake components on as you possibly can.
Bigger calipher will require more fluid, thus bigger master cylinder or I suspect the pedal would be spongy

Pedal won't be spongy but may need slightly more travel for same brake effect. Y60 TI came out with twin pot front callipers and when my mate fit them to his ute he did not need to fit a bigger master cylinder so hopefully you will be fine.

Hey Make it Fit, i am not sure you mentioned in teh other thread that the diffs you got were off a GU!! That now explains the bigger brakes and stronger CVs! Bonus! I and currently in teh middle of preparing for a GUI Diff swap onto my GQ too.
Your Brakes will eb fine. Note that the taper in you Drag Link will be a different Tie rod end and you will need to swap them out too.

The y60 master cylinder will work but to get the most of the larger brakes fit the y61 master as well. The later one has a larger bore this equates to better stopping power. The gu's run thicker and larger diameter rotors than gq's ever did.

The Y61 is also 50mm wider track than the Y60. No biggee if you are swapping both diffs as a complete package but you may encounter rim offset issues and tyre scrubbing if you have big rubber set up on the existing Y60 track.
Marks and prob some others make a rear diff adapter so you only have to swap the front diff from Y60 to Y61 and can leave the original Y60 diff in the back if you wish and just add the spacers. Reco GU axles come in the kit. Obviously if you have a donor vehicle or both diff and axle assy's already then no kit required

Mines a TI Diesel & it doesn't have twin piston calipers. As far as I know, only the EFI 4.2 petral GQ's had em.
