I've never heard of an off the shelf option. That's not to say it doesn't exist, but I am well into my third year of modifying my car and if it was available I'd have shortlisted it...

I have been told about a 135 amp Hitachi alternator that will fit the ZD30

This is the part number I was given LR1130-702C.

I haven't looked into getting one yet.

What price we looking at here, $1000 plus. why do you need so much charging power, 100 amps suitable for most.
don't the higher charge ones have a slower start up rate off idle??
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

Thanks guys. I have been looking at one on eBay item number 261089564877. Not sure if it is exactly the same mounting size, it does have a 6 groove pulley not the required 7. The seller states that it is rated at 170amp. at the price I am tempted to buy one.

Looks interesting. It seems to have been fitted to 2007 Nissan Atlas trucks and Interstars with ZD30 engines. Not sure if it is available any were in Australia. An useful site with alternator catalogues http://www.as-pl.com

When you change the alternator stator windings from a star to a delta you do get a higher output from the alternator at high engine RPM, the downside is at idle or low RPM the alternator output is lower.

If you purchase a higher output alternator (that has a star connected stator) the low RPM output of the alternator should not be that much different to the standard one.

All alternators have a different output with regards to RPM.
