    GU 3.0TD 2011 shutting down

Has anyone experienced this? Twice travelling along the 110k freeway my Patrol has kicked quite severely a few times and then the entire system shuts down. I mean everything just dies. It's as though I've switched the car off. Luckily I've had enough momentum to get to the side each time. As soon as I switch the key off, and restart all is hunky dory - as though nothing happened. Is this a safety mechanism for dirty fuel? Or is it maybe the DP Chip or car computer playing up?

Sounds like it kicking down too far and shutting down as protection. Have you noticed what sort of revs it is at when it shuts down?

Thanks threedogs, that would explain the kicking, and I thought that - but why would the whole system shut down? Is there a protection mechanism in the cars computer?

I would remove the chip and see if it happens and remove any other mods to get a base line vehicle and see what happens

I have had a similar outcome but totally different circumstances.
I was driving along (GU8 CRD 3lt TD, chip and exhaust) stereo blasting, not sure of speed, but I remember seeing 5500 rpm ( maybe over or less ) and realized I was in second gear (in an auto), as soon as I put it into drive it stalled. Not sure if coincidence on stalling when I click drive or stalled at the same time coincidently, keep rolling put it in neutral and started the car and kept going.

These patrols have shutdown protection for everything. normally you can disconnect the battery for half an hour to put things right.
Mego 5500rpm...... ...... really what were you thinking, I'd shut down too lol

Mego tell me if it went like this,,,,you shifted down to stop for a red light, took off in second
and in a nano second your pulling 5500rpm frantically try to put it in drive.
