New respect for Landcruisers

My son was involved in a roll over last night when his mate put his 1986 cruiser on it's roof, tow truck driver said that they are very lucky to be alive.
The roof was pushed down to half on the front windscreen, my son escaped with only a sore neck and his mate has a sore thumb.
Cruiser is a right off so it did is job well and protected both of the boys.
They hit a roundabout that could not be seen until it was too late.

Great to hear that they are both safe and sound mate!! Not a nice thing to happen at any time, but at this time of year (and as per the other threads doing the rounds on here at the moment about safety) it again drives home the importance of taking your time, driving to the conditions, and that 'safe and late' is better than the alternative.

Good 2 hear your son and his mate faired very well after what sounds like a very serious roll over. Sounds like it could of been alot worse.

Glad to here ya young bloke is OK Doggy, I presume its the same young bloke on the 4WD show forum and he said he lost his license over the incident so is there more to the story?

Hi Glen yes it was the same young bloke on The 4WD Show forum,
As soon as my young bloke rang I went up there, the road does a slow LH sweep on a slight decline, he was traveling at 70kph (speed limit 80kph) as he had never driven on that road before.
The street light on the RHS was not working but there were 2 on the LHS and the roundabout sign was right on the intersection itself, this roundabout is very flat the trucks that use this road just drive straight across it that's how low it is.
I drove around it myself and could hardly distinguish where the road joined the roundabout, I cannot believe that sort of thing has been allowed to be left as it is for so long.
the driver was charged with careless driving and fined $100 but he was on P Plates so he lost his license, very unfair I think but that seems to be the standard fine with all accidents involving P Platers.
Have since heard that there have been a lot of accidents on this roundabout so it seems that we have another black spot to watch out for.

Hey bro. Glad your young bloke is OK. Have a word to Western Power and local council or Main Roads WA and see what they can do about it. Don't forget to tell them to do a road safety audit on the roundabout and get the crash data at that particular intersection.
