    Hi Tony,

    Cheers mate.

I don't have any pics and I'm not exactly what you would call mechanically minded, but it was the work of Jay on the other national patrol forum along with his cruise control mod. I think basically this power valve actuator starves the engine of air up until about 1/4 throttle position. Disconnecting the actuator rod and cable tying the valve open and disconnecting the solenoid is all that needs doing. This seems to give you more power and torque off idle, some people even experiencing better fuel economy (not in my case though, economy is still the same).

Without trying to draw people away from this forum, I can post a link to the thread on the other forum, where there's a full description and pics of the 2 mods? Let me know.

    Cheers,
    Darren

It's been a while since the last update, so here goes. Not in any particular order.
I had been meaning to get the 2 degree castor correction done for some time now and finally I've had it done. The Patrol now drives much better with the steering wheel returning to centre without much effort and it doesn't bounce off in all directions as previously when you hit any bumps in the road. At the same time the arms were off I had some 12mm Superior Engineering radius arm spacers fitted. This should allow me to run some play 35" tyres if I need to in the future without scrubbing the backend of the front guards and mudflaps. I have a set of rims which I bought secondhand a while back for this purpose, but still need to paint/powdercoat them in readiness for the bigger rubber. Thanks to Ash and Stu at Perth 4x4 for fitting the above items.

Had enough of replacing globes in the bullbar combo lights, even the LED globes I bought started to play up with all the mud etc... getting into the hounsing. So i bit the bullet and replaced them with a set of LED park/indicator lamps from Russ@Tweaked Offroad. Model no. is 175AW.

    The standard Units.

    The new units.

New Head Unit from AutoTunez (Ebay). The clock has a mind of its own, but the rest seems to be functioning ok. Has all the usual stuff you'd expect GPS, Ipod connectivity, Bluetooth, DVD, reverse camera etc.., plus I've loaded up OziCE with a selection of maps. Was quite happy that it came with IGO8 Street Nav and not that gawd damn Route66.

The front swaybar links were a bit short, so I decided to get some greasable adjustable swaybar links.

    Originals

    New ones.

Thumpa 21W LED worklamp to replace the 55w halogen Kaymar one.

Upgraded the 100W IPF Halogen driving lights with Thumpa 55W 4300K HID replacements. Fitted the ballasts inside the light housing.

The ROLA roof bars and tray were sold, as after our Kimberely trip I found that I was not really using it. So those have now taken up resdience on top of another WPC Patrol. I decided that 3 Rhino Sportz racks would do me nicely. These hold the awning, shovel holder and ratchet tiedowns etc...

    A winch rope protector.

I had been eyeing off these Harris Hardcase diff guards for a while and after seeing some of the punishment they'd taken on other peoples Patrols, I decided to grab one for Guzzle Guts. I did have one small issue though with the U-Bolt on the driver's side coming into contact with the brakeline. Robsons Brother's 4WD were kind enough to relocate the brakeline for me, so now the HH diff guard is now installed. Thanks Mal.

I had Mike (XLR8) weld on a couple of extra bullbar tabs for me and he also fabbed up a hi-lift jack holder so that the hi-lift sits on the inside of one of the wheel carriers. Thanks Mike.

Hi-lift jack holder (minus the jack)

The air locker and compressor switches were installed in the pen holder in the centre floor console, but I found that they kept popping out. The reason for this was that the wiring was hard up against the carpet underneath the console. Not good considering how hot the switches get.

I found these in Clark rubber and used them to raise the switches up enough to get clearance for the wiring underneath.

Cut out the centres so that the switches clicked in and with a bit of Rapid Fix, adhered them to the centre floor console.

    G'day Bloggsy,

You have one awesome setup, i'm in awe with some of the mods that have been done to your 'gussle guts'. Very impressive. It has give me many ideas, now all I need is to get approval from the Minister for War & Finance, she can be hard to convince sometimes.

    Cheers
