The infinity V8 bolts staight onto a TB42 auto box as they use the same box in the infinity. Only have to change the engine mounts (and probably move a few bits n pieces around the engine bay)
If you could get a bellhousing to match a TB42 to an RB30 box then i guess you could put the infinity into the RB30, but the infinity would probably wreck the rb30 box.

should fit as tb42 is same bell patern man or auto other wise engines would have to be different .... the clutch however is another issue, but my experaince with nissan is although things make look differfen and be years apart there are usually bits from another model that will work for instance the ka 24de out of the navara will bolt to the gear box of a 1600! so its just trial and error (:

    Thumbs up

0-0 stumbled across this thread searching for other info about a GU. Had to stop and congratulate you for undertaking such a project.

I did see an RB26 Pootroll (GU) forsale about 2 months ago, from WA I think, also looked like a youtube clip of it on a beech. You could probably find it with a search.

I used to drive a R33 GTR V-Spec in anger

which made decent power at all 4

    and went pretty quick

My immediate thoughts are same as yours, keep the twins small - GT2860R in a.45ar if possible. The small capacity of the RB26 can be left lagging with too big a turb on each bank of 3 cylinders. Matching turbo's to the RB26 is a bit of a dark art, follow the tried and true roads for the power in the rev range you want to achieve.

    Go a MAFless tune.

You'll also need forged pistons to handle some extra boost to keep it safe.

Upgraded fuel system, at least a high flow in tank pump and larger injectors, don't bother about swapping the fuel rail.

You will NEED an extended race sump, (eg hi-octain type), actually don't know how you will work this as the front diff for the GTR runs through the sump. but I guess you got that worked out. IF your RB looses any oil at all form the pick-ups, say from going up/down/sideways, particularly under high RPM it will flat spot a bearing in a handful of revolutions and you will need a rebuild of the bottom end, this will cost you about $7,000 - $10,000. So best to do it right form the get go.

While we are talking about oil, get an oil cooler with a remote oil filter mount. Gives a few extra lts and will help keep the temps down.

Dont know where you will fit the FMIC, you wont need a bigger one, but do not go any smaller to fit it in.

You will also need a decent, perhaps dual, clutch. Might as well see if you can get a lighter flywheel while your down in that area to keep the inertia down.

IT would go better with cams, but probably wont get to use them for the full potential.

As much as I would love to see this done. I think you could get more usable power with a different set up for less maintance, eg LS2. Then if needed supercharge it, even a stroked LS1 with a charger.

GTR's straight out of the box are ok, but their true potential at speed lies at how well they take to modifying and how they love to rev. Just know that to get that performance with the Pootrol drive train strapped to a RB26 you will have to rev it and the drive train will rob a lot of power, regardless of diff ratios.

Remember it's not just the RB26 that made the GTR great, the ATTESA-ETS (pro in V-Spec) was doing 1000 calculations a second to get the most out of the drive train to convert all that power to forward motion as efficiently as possible, strapping the RB26 to a agricultural drive train like a patrol just ain't going to give you the berries you may be hoping for.

With the $$$ you will spend you could buy both a GTR and a Pootrol. But don't let me stop you, I think it's a wild idea. Make sure you get the RB26 from R33 and later as the crank is improved over the R32's.

I'll be watching this to see how it goes
