    frustrated kimbara

    Hi all,
I have a problem with water in fuel filter, i have a 2005 patrol GU 1V turbo, the problem is most noticeble when towing my van, malfunction light comes on, so i drain a bit of fuel out of the the filter, guessing any water will drain out first, this fixes the malfunction light , and sometimes fixes the problem with sluggishness , other times and it seems to be more often now the power is just not there,
do i need to drain the fuel tank or someone said if i take the battery lead off and put it back on, this seems to work.

    Any suggestions
    Thanks

I dunno a lot about the 3.0 but have the filters (fuel and air) been replaced regularly, thats always a good start.

Could be water in the tank, there doesnt seem to be a drain plug on the tank, but the problem only really arises when under pressure like when iv'e been towing the van for a couple of hours

I would assume that once you have drained the filter you prime it back up. It sounds as though it may be pulling air in from somwhere which if only a small hole or something is allowing it then will be more noticeable under load. Try the search about priming them and air in the system it doesnt have to be anything big ( a pinhole will do it)

Thanks i hear what your saying ,yes i do prime fuel back into the filter after draining, but would the water malfunction light come on if it's a air problem.

Possibly I think the light will come on if there is a filter restriction water etc i am not entirely sure about air though.
