I have quite a few diesel fitter say that the can almost set the watch to a ball bearing turbo failure as much as I love the sound I opted for a mitsubishi TD05h 16g at GUte mentioned. the turbo whistle is next to non existant but they are a reliable bit of gear that can produce boost in the mid 20's psi

I would speak to Matt at united fuel injection in wa he does many different specs of the td05 to suit nearly any application he gets back to you prompt with info and will be able to put you in the right direction these turbos are probably best suited to the td42 and are reliable to boot. From info i have seen posted around they seem to have a pretty broad rpm range in which they operate well.

I think all the ball bearing turbo failures I have read about are because there was no oil restrictor used or the drain was positioned wrong. One other was where the turbo was tuned to more boost than the turbo could handle & that resulted in an overspun turbo.
    The conspiracy theorists were right!

One thing to watch out for is the term high flow as usually this is just a load of crud they feed you when they bolt on a different wheel and housing combo and rob you much like a mugging lol.

To me that seems like a bit bit of a waste of time to achieve 200hp at the wheels, When he could of easily achieved that with diesel, and still get 500,000 km out of it
