Hey All
Just wondering whats involved in charging a TB42E, just looking for a few extra kw out of it, not looking at running high boost, but any info would be great.
Thanks Paul.

Hey mate
Well worth the venture. Quickspool (Will Tobin is the guy to talk to) in Brisbane do bolt on kits starting at $3999 plus fitting that will get it moving. I did it a different way, but still super impressed at the power (as is everyone who's been in/around my rig since complete). Expect teething issues, but the end result will leave a grin on your face that a mortician will struggle to remove!!!

Cheers bigrig, did you change compression or any internals? Ive heard an xr6 turbs will go straight on a td42t manifold, did you have to change much? Any info would be great, sorry to be a pain.
No trouble at all mate.
I am machined the head to pull some compression out of it (went from 8.7:1 to 7.9:1) which allowed for a bit more timing and boost without pinging (around $1300). Nothing else changes mechanically, except the fuel pump (Wallbro High Performance to deliver enough fuel) and the injectors (VDO 660cc). All other mechanicals the same. The old ECU had to go also as it can't control boost, fuel injection rates, etc, but you apparently can have it remapped/piggy backed. I went for a Wold v500 at $2035 rather than frigging around with the alternatives.
Outside of other issues and items I spent on, I'd say around $8000 will see you throwing some serious output numbers ... and I mean 'serious'!!

Also nistune lets you live tune the factory ecu for a fraction of the cost involved in using an aftermarket ecu unlike aftermarket setups it is designed specifically for the tb42e .

Might look different being a high mount but i am pretty certain tb42 td42 and tb45 use the same setup.
Please correct me if i am wrong.
