I'm sure it would be lovely to own a 'U, just because they are a bit (quite a bit) newer. Starting to chase rust in my 89 Mav and the rubber bits are getting old as well. Still seems good value for $$
Don't stress, mine's getting some surface rust on the roof coz of the stone chips and where the roof rack used to be. I need to give it some TLC.

Just yesterday I had to replace the indicator flasher thingie coz it blew and hand signals are so embarassing. lol

    Take care out there.

Hey Silver, you know me too well. lol.

I go on mud and sand when and if I have to. I tend to shy away from them as I've still got skinny wheels and am always being recovered. My confidence is slowly building. SLOWLY, being the operative word. As the old saying goes, if you fall off a horse, get straight back on. Which I'm doing.

I have a policy of not going 4wding by myself - Justin Case. So it has been a bit hard to get out there. Plus, I'm not really interested in spending hours and hours cleaning my 'whitey'. lol

Anyway, enough of being serious. Time for more banter. lol

A mate got his GU from the ses in SA and it has the real skinny tyres on split rims. He is going to replace them as soon as they wear out......but they just won't wear out! I think it's about three years by now.

I have over the years owned GQ’s and GU’s and both have their strengths and weaknesses.
The GQ with its big square body looks tough and it is and they just keep on going and going. My Son in Law has a 91 GQ 4.2 Litre Petrol that has done over 550,000 K’s and the Motor just Purrs.
The GU is a lot more comfortable and with the 4.5 & 4.8 Litre Petrol plus 4.2 TD are a good strong unit. The early GU’s with the 3.0 Litre Motor was a bit of a Problem and I still think even with the Current 3 Litre Motor is under powered especially down low in Revs.
I love the comfort of the GU now that I am getting on in years but hey they have all been fantastic Trucks.

On that subject....I always was a Holden man, then drove the XR6 turbo, and the rest is history. lol

I always have and always will help a GQ or a GU owner, anywhere, anytime. I get grumpy when I get woken up, but I will help. LMAO.

    Take care out there.
