An interesting but completely useless side note about mufflers, I remember reading when HSV developed the 215kw 355 stroker V8 engine back in the VR Commodore days I think it was, they spent a great deal of time trying to get the right exhaust note. In the end it came down to switching from round holes in the perforated muffler tube, to square holes.
