I guess if the strap broke, no one would wear a shackle that attached the end of the strap to a recovery point. The shackle would just stay attached to the recovery point.
Whether it was weak enough to protect a tow ball by breaking before the tow ball would remain to be seen I guess.
In any case even just the end of a broken strap sounds like something you wouldn't want to be standing in the way of.
Certainly not something I'd buy :-)
