Instead of naming a shonk and exposing the forum to litigation.
I was wondering if you put a name of a business in a field and it came up with a star rating,
    No stars = Not rated
    1 star = Not recomended
    2 stars = Be careful
    3 stars = Average service
    4 stars = Very good
    5 stars = Highly recommended
Members PM their story to the mods, it certainly needs to be administered by our moderating team if its not too hard to do.
Not sure if its a way around this problem, but we do need to be able to find good dealers and give them our work.

Top marks for Macca - great idea!!

Like an open poll as such whereby we continue to add ratings and it averages out with "managed" comments for each.

I like it and would be happy to administer it if AB and the mods are ok with that.

AB - you would probably need to create something to accommodate?

IMO, I would steer clear of any negative postings towards any one or any business. You just dont want the forum to get a bad name. keep it alll positive and recomend the guys that are genuine and ignore the rest.

If you think you must, here is some info on the appropriate channels to have your complaint dealt with:

List of all State Department of Fair Traiding offices
    http://www.complaintline.com.au/consumeraffairs.html

If he is willing to refund your money in full then the Fair Trading Department will drop the complaint.

I would just get your money back and ignore the moron. There is no excuse for bad behavior towards customers. However there is always two sides to every story.

    Just my two cents worth.

    Cheers,

    Rob
Just about to jump into my next Patrol. A 2001 GU II TB45E .

WARNING!: Do not ever use a towball as a recovery point. They are not rated and can become a deadly projectile during a recovery if they snap off, and they have done so with tragic results in the past.

Good post mate - we would need to ensure the rating system (if we are to start it) doesn't have negative comments as such - just specific issues encountered (facts) outlines in a non inflammatory manner - hence my suggestion for "managed" comments.

I havn't done a good job of explaining what I had in mind.
A member types in the company name and a star rating only will show, no names or comments.
Its up to the member if thay want to use them.
The forum wont be in a questionable position regarding complimenting or flaming a business.
Hope that is a bit clearer Rob (rkinsey).
I still think we should be able to find out if someones a scamer, if they dont like their listing (if they do know it) it's up to them to lift their game. Normal business practice.
It gives you a bit of confidence to buy from someone who has a good reputation, too late when after a purchase someone says oh yeah he's a rip off.
It's not fair to be taken for a ride and the shonk should not be implied as a good trader just because he has no listing, list the good and the bad but discreetly.
    Fantastic ideas, keep them coming
    Macca
Edit; Some dubious people have bad trade practices because they know that they will not be publicly shamed, isnt thats what bullying is?

Yeah i agree, maybe stay away from the name and shame. We dont want the forum to get a bad name. Lets just name all the awesome people that help us keep on the road. The guy that helped me out with all my troubles recently is: Steve Watkins Automotive, Automatic gearbox Specialist and General mechanical repairs. Burnie Tasmania. The service I got from him was awesome. I highly recomend him. Thanks Steve.

Thanks for naming the good guys, Unfortunately this won't help the other people who might get involved in purchasing goods from the other dodgy bloke. I can't see a problem with naming the rogues as long they have the opportunity in having a say in what happened. This is just like word to moth except it is on the net
