    ZD30 Life Cycle ?

    Hey Guys,
I know this is a sticky question to answer, but assuming regular maintenence how many Kms could I expect a ZD30 to cover before requiring a Major Overhaul?.

Diesels in the UK can run upwards of 550,00-650,00 kms, is this reasonable her in OZ?.

    Cheers

There's a few people around the Forums with well over 300,000 on Zd30's and I saw a post on another Forum recently with one that has 430,000.

Unfortunately you won't get a definitive answer as the ZD30's pushing a Patrol have such a bad rep that a combination of 'rumour', 'he said she said' and 'my ex sisters, toy boy, dog breeders twin brother had one and...' will skew any info

The same engine family in the Navara's seems to be nowhere near as dodgy so ZD30's overall aren't too bad but EARLY ZD30's in a Patrol have a very poor rep.
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.

    Agree with ET here 100%

You will find the Diesels in Patrols with a good rep are the larger 6cyl TD42's. Thay come both N/A & turbo & I have read a report from a member here who comes from up north with a TD42 thats clicked over 1,000,000ks so it can be done.

Thanks for the reply. When you say 'Early ZD30's' are you talking series II?.

Not sure my budget will go to a TD42, and I understand they are a bit difficult to get hold of.
