The class whiz was asked to add all the numbers from 1-100 as fast as he could ( 1+2+3+4.....all the way to 100). After about 10 seconds he answered 5050 (which is correct).

How did he do it so quick?

(1 + 100) + (2 + 99) + (3 + 98) + . . . . + (50 + 51) = ?

If you notice every pair of numbers adds up to 101. There are 50
pairs of numbers, so the answer is 50*101 = 5050.

Using the following Formulae

100 multiplied by (100+1) divided by 2 ie 10100 divided by 2 equals 5050

if it was count to 101 the answer would be 5151
