Buy a "decent" telescopic rod with a bit of guts to it, what ever your thinking fish wise double it.
We took Black Queens, {joke} ended up in Jack Erksines in Cairnes and brought some 6" lures on Snapper style rods.
The theory back then was catch a 10lb fish use 20lb line, Agree I want a feed not a fight with possibilty of losing it.
Have a nice big lure ready to flick every river crossing ,you'll be eating fish every night, Dont forget to go crabbing too,

@ hekarewe that rod way to light IMO
could always store rods in anysize pvc with either a screw cap or just push on end cap.
