Keeping it in the family ...

So as some of you may know, the eldest lad has been looking around for a project car whilst he gets his license - something solid (but cheap) that he could build up over time and end up with a reliable daily driver.

He's been wanting a Patrol, but not much has popped up in the price range that could compete with rusty old Navara's, hilux's, etc .... until Saturday!!

He picked up an 89 GQ TB42 ute with a fair bit of rust through the cab, but a clean as a whistle chassis, a motor that absolutely purrs, and a driveline and transmission that most of us would be stoked to have in our daily bangers.

Keeping it in the family indeed!!! Couldn't be happier for him, and he's over the moon with his "first car".

Sooooo ... to work we went ...

This is what it looked like on Sunday ...

And after 24 hours, this is what it looks like now ...

The young fella is mortified!!! lmao ... nahhh ... he knows it needs to be stripped back to see what we're dealing with (rust!! lol) and you don't find gold unless you dig ...

So here's hoping to a good build process for the young fella (even with me involved!! lol) and the intent is for this to be a ute that will not fail in turning heads. Plan is to have it stripped, rebuilt, customised here and there, resprayed, and registered by Christmas ... fingers crossed!
