    pertronix and condensor/ resistor

    gday guys

After looking into the Maverick a little more ive discovered that it already has a Pertronix lobe sensor module installed with a bosch GT40R coil. I just wanted to double check how it should be set up in regards to a resistor coil and condensor as ive read a couple of times these things are normaly removed once the pertronix has been fitted. This is the set up I currently have:

    cheers in advance

You need to remove the condensor.

With a GT40R you need to have a ballast resistor.

If you upgrade to a gt40 or a pertonix coil - then you remove the ballast (just connect all the wires together at 1 end.

You get a bigger spark running the coil at 12 volts (no ballast resistor)

Note = the round gold colour device mounted to the coil in the above photo is a RF suppressor. The condenser is mounted on the side of the carby

Cheers mate I assume the condensor is already off and that I do need the rf surpressor?

You dont need the condensor when you have a pertonix.

You need to check the wiring of the vehicle that the bosch coil came from - some vehicles do run a ballast with electronic ignition. The ballast is designed to reduce the current flow though the coil.

Would the gt40 coil be equal to the flamethrower coil
I put the flamethrower 2 coil in my patrol and the coil was to hot to touch (as hot as stovetop)

What pertonix ignition are you running?

The flamethrower 2 coil has Ultra Low 0.32 primary resistance - the lower the resistance the more current flow = coil will get hotter

The flamethrower coil has either 1.5 or 3 ohms you might need to swap with a flame thower

    A gt40 has a resistance of around 3 ohms
