    You need to remove the condensor.

    With a GT40R you need to have a ballast resistor.

    If you upgrade to a gt40 or a pertonix coil - then you remove the ballast (just connect all the wires together at 1 end.

    You get a bigger spark running the coil at 12 volts (no ballast resistor)

    Note = the round gold colour device mounted to the coil in the above photo is a RF suppressor. The condenser is mounted on the side of the carby
