I swapped over to Willwood brakes front and rear on the GQ when I did the chop. I also added hydroboost over the top, and despite having more stopping power, the result was quite knife edge and its easy to lock up the wheels in the dry and its absolute death in the wet with mudd terrains. I also found the front pads glaze up quickly from soft brake applications and metro driving.

I went back to Castlemaine Rod Shop where I purchased the setup and enquired about a softer front pad. The part number was given to them and they committed to find me a solution. I received a call this arvo to say they have a guy on site who experienced the same thing and he changed to a different pad. I said, great, whats the cost and when can I get them.

The sales guys Hayden, Mr Willwood said they were pretty dear at $395/set, so I said what if I send you back a set of the spare pads as part payment and he said, nah, I will send them to you FOC - like really? Anyway, I wasnt happy with this so said I would send my new spares back, and pay half the difference - seems only fair as I want these guys around in the future and they need to be profitable.

Deal done, he is happy, I am happy, will cost me circa $70 and they get a good review on this forum.

Highly recommend Castlemaine Rod Shop, really responsive and friendly guys, know their stuff. Looking forward to getting the new pads and try them out. The standard pads are $190 a set and very hard/high temp. Fronts are 6 pot calipers and rears 4 pots, need to run 17" rims also.

Advised the pads are on the way, have them Friday at latest. Part number for anyone doing the upgrade is Willwood 150-47-7416. They are a high friction, low temperature pad that is pitched at racing cars, and still perform well at high temps. The pads supplied with the kit originally are not so great at low operating temps, but I will keep the harder pads on the rear.
