    Welding gear PPE recommendation

I need to do a fair bit of welding under the car, using the MIG, on the chassis stiffener plates. I can tip one side up for greater clarance using ramps and stands, however using a stanadrd helmet is going to be tigh.
Is there a welding facemask like the style used with Oxy Welding or has a smaller face piece and also a leather hood or hood and jacket avail?

Whats better for a welding blanket, leather of fibreglass, thinking 2m L x 1m wide.

Focus is being able to orientate the gun and line of sight - happy to work off the garage floor if I can get the system right. Probably going to use this gear once, so prefer not to spend a fortune.

I use a leather welding blanket and have had no problems. As for the other stuff, I can't help you, sorry, Phil.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

You can get a welding hood which would be very good for such application plus a welding jacket. Not sure on helmet TBH unfortunately.
