When you buy the Gen 3 Starlink they supply you with the router, the dish, & a 240v power supply. (ie. 240v to 56v). In a mobile situation an inverter supplies 240v from the 12v battery (ie. 12v to 240v to 56v) The 12v-56v power supply replaces the Starlink one. Main reason for doing is that my 3000w inverter/charger has close to 2.5 amps 'overhead' which adds up to a fair drain on the battery if spending long periods online. In addition one less voltage conversion should mean less 'conversion losses'.......... so overall saves on power consumption from the battery.
With Gen 3 the power supply plugs into the router only & the dish is then powered from the router.
