A lot of these cable ideas from racks to inside the vehicle have a bit of a problem because water will run down the cable into the cab. You should have a drip point before the cable enters the cab in an upward direction if possible, or else well seal the entry point.

Patrol God
Heres how i routed mine into the cab.
But my battery is right under that window so to me it made sense. That air relief vent is already water and drip ready so it was a no brainer.

Battery has been showing signs the last month or so. Completely dead this morning, trip to Autobarn and picked up a supercharged NS70LX GOLD PLUS for $200. It's amazing how you get use to a dying battery. The new one fired up within a split second first thing in the morning.
Also, finally got a chance to give it a decent clean inside and out after last weekend's trip. With great surprise there's not too many scratches down the sides, considering the narrow tracks, they should all buff out.

Some suggestions on having cars parked up, should I disconnect the batteries? I'll probably start it and let it get to operating temp with the short drive up the street every couple of weeks. Is there anything that I really should do?

Not sure re the battery mate, but if you can put it on stands and lay tyres on their side, avoids a flat spot on them.
