SCA had a fitting on the shelf which had the right size barb for the hose and a big enough thread diameter to go into the hole. Used a 12.5mm drill to clean out the hole and then used silicone grease and the actual fitting (back and forth) to tap it out. plastic there is around 2mm thick so made sure I got 3/4 of the thread inside.
