Just got a chainsaw chain grinder. Had a few chains destroyed by hitting hidden nails and rocks inside trees and figured I'd have a crack at repairing them with this.
Completely destroyed the first chain, sort of destroyed the second and did a good job on the third. Was only cheap, just under $100 delivered from Edisons.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I have only ever used a file and have gotten pretty good at it. Will continue to do that exclusively until a chain gets rocked out and the grinder will be for repair work.
If I repair 3 chains then the machine will have paid for itself.
Next time I need to buy new chains I will buy a roll of Stihl chain and a spinner/breaker.

4.5lt Gas blower. Lots of mods to come.....all in good time.
Here is my trusty chain sharpener, had it 25 yrs, invaluable to have, simply stack all the chains up and sharpen the lot at the one time, i have 3 different size chains, however the same wheel is used for all of them, I am going to buy a diamond disk so i can do a carbide tipped chain i have as well.Chainsaw chain sharpener.JPG

I just use a rat tail file on my chains. I watched Rossco do it a few times and thought to give it a crack myself. Got it down pretty good now.
