Finally engaged 4WD today! Went up to Noosaville and then had a bit of a play just off the Bruce near Wild Horse Lookout for an hour or so. Photo below was taken before we hit the mud.

Will take a snap of my muddy truck tomorrow.

    Hey All,

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

I've been spending a fair bit of time on the forum researching my next 3 or 4 hundred mods.... LOL

Just ordered the autron pillar pod and the VDO pyro/boost gauge kit from fleabay for a bit of insurance and to assist me with my next couple of mods. Will post the result of my install.

    Cheers,

    Steve

    Hey All,

I've been busy setting up the beast and getting out for weekends camping with the fam (which is why we bought the Patrol in the first place) and thought I'd better update everyone on my progress.

Took delivery of my Autron pillar pod, EGT and boost guages kit, an ABR sidewinder dual battery monitor and gauge and a UHF radio in the last couple of weeks! I have also previously installed an auxilliary battery and carrier, an ARB compressor and some new wheels and tires.

I carefully recorded my installation of all of this kit with my iphone and before I could get on here and post some kick arse step by step build thread magic my 2 year old managed to wipe my iphone! Stupid me for leaving it lying around.

    Here goes:

    Pillar Pod
I picked up a couple of small spray cans from Supercheap and after trimming the bottom bit off the pod (as per instructions) gave it 2 coats. The colour turned out to be very close in the end.

There was a bit of fun poking the wiring through the firewall, dash and pod, but I got there in the end. Had most of the front of the dash out for this as I tidied up the wiring and installed another fuse box for all my extra goodies as well.

Very happy with the quality and fit of the pod.

    EGT
I ordered an EGT/Boost kit from ebay. The clamp that came with sender was way too big for my dump pipe, so I cut it off leaving 3 or 4 cms either side of the fitting and then used 2 smaller hose clamps to clamp it to the pipe. I tried to get a picture of this today without pulling off the heat shield. I will need a new dump pipe soon anyway (the rest of the exhaust is brand new) and will get one with a proper fitting on it when I do.

I kinda missed cutting the hole exactly right but it was getting dark, I'd removed and installed the shield a few times already, I busted my wood holesaw cutting the double thickness metal shield (of course), was down to the nub of my last grinding disc and there were a few empty rum cans lying around at the time LOL!

    Boost
Installed the gauge, electrics and hose but haven't sorted out brazing a fitting to the intercooler pipe yet.

    Dual Battery System
I installed battery tray, auxiliary battery, redarc relay and an ABR Sidewinder guage a little while ago as well. Now I can run the fridge and not worry about who is going to jump start me in the morning.

I can still use the little compartment behind the battery monitor as well

    On Board Compressor
I bolted an ARB compressor onto the ABS (I think) bracket behind the auxilliary battery as well. Have used it on several beach trips already. I know some people don't like compressors in the engine bay, but I didn't want the thing in the cabin and it fits real nice where it is without drilling any holes at all. It also has outlets for controlling lockers which I don't intend on getting for a while.

    Wheels/Tyres
Also finally took delivery of my new Sunnys with -13mm offset and 33" Good Year Wrangler Duratracs on Friday! Love the look. Drives real nice on the road. Gives me another 2" of lift too.

Ploughing through my wish list now! Next item is a full length roof rack.

    Cheers,

    Steve

Thats what I love to see, plenty of mod pics.

Are you doing the work yourself? If so, great workmanship.

    Very impressive.
