Ours came home with them too a couple of weeks ago - wife and I managed to avoid them when we were at school - more luck than good management I guess.

I don't know if it works, but some have suggested 10 drops of tea tree oil dissolved in a spray bottle of water and then sprayed onto hair before school acts as a deterent once the wildlife currently in residence has been removed. I work colleague was a fan of peppermint oil for her nippers. Not sure what the dilution rate was.
