I have a pretty well looked after GQ 1995 TD 2.8 6 cyl Patrol. Currently doing some gearbox work, but otherwise is a good vehicle. What I wanted to know is upgrades for front bushes, like kits or whatever that can be bought for this model?
I have seen some on ebay, the red urethane type bushes as a kit, are these what you guys would use? Advice needed please
Personally I would stay away from urethane bushes in a live axle 4WD. The stiffness of the bushes reduces suspension travel. Best bet is to stick to Genuine Nissan rubber bushes. Although softer than urethane, they locate well but still allow full flex, and are quite durable.
There is a difference between GQ and GU radius arm bushes (diff end), with the GU bushes being solid rubber and the GQ being slotted. The slotted bushes flex better off road, that's why a lot of GU owners switch to them.
No, the radius arms that you fit the slotted bushes to were only fitted to coil spring models. Getting leaf springs to flex is a completely different science.
