There was no great real trick to it mate, just used a 'Glad' foil tray on the pizza stone and kept top coal lid off to the side super heating up until ready and dropped it on top to crackle up. 15 or so mins later removed the top coal lid and then added the smoker tray to difuse the top heat and commence smoking/slower cooking there on in.
